Torri Schaffer
Torri Schaffer started Torri’s Legal Services (TLS) in 1990. She and her ex-husband had a process serving business in Washington DC, and when the marriage dissolved, Torri went out on her own using the skills she had learned from that experience. Over the years, she built a successful, thriving company providing process serving nationwide from her company’s headquarters in the Washington, DC area. Torri is dedicated to excellence and is committed to continuously maintaining and expanding her and her company’s knowledge of process serving regulations (of which there are many, and they vary by jurisdiction), and skip tracing techniques. She and her staff attend seminars and events to remain well-informed of the different laws and regulations nationwide.
Torri is committed to ensuring due process is served for all Americans, so she founded and is the past President of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Professional Process Servers (MAAPPS). She is currently Vice President of that organization, and is proud to work with other process servers on achieving high standards within the process serving industry. In addition, Torri is a past Board member of the National Association of Professional Process Servers, the national arm of the local organization she founded.
TLS offers a wide range of services that have grown and developed over the years in response to the needs of her clients. In addition to service of process, TLS provides skip tracing, document retrieval, information services, mobile notary, and mobile copy services. If there is something you need and it’s within the wheelhouse of our expertise, we will find a way to make it happen for you. Justice never sleeps, and neither does Torri’s Legal Services. We are available 24/7. We work with clients of all shapes and sizes, from the individual in a private suit to the United States government. For the past several years we worked with Transurban of North America to provide skip tracing and serving of process on toll violators in Virginia.
As a recognized expert, Torri was a featured speaker at the ServeCon online educational seminar. She has been called on by the D.C. Council to play an integral role in developing rules and standards for service of process in the D.C. Metro area.
She has testified before the Maryland State Senate regarding licensing and certification of private process servers. For eight consecutive years, TLS has been named one of the top process serving
companies in the “Best of Legal Times” by The National Law Journal. TLS is proud to be recognized for its best-in-class service.
In addition to her work with law firms and toll operators, Torri has also been providing her expertise in cases concerning District of Columbia tax sale properties for seven years. Through that, she has become familiar with the rules and expectations and has gained enormous experience locating the heirs of deceased property owners. TLS affidavits in this work are notably comprehensive, showing that all attempts were made to locate all heirs.
Outside of work Torri has many interests and activities. She loves riding her motorcycle, taking care of her family, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and finding new adventures. She is a good friend and a dedicated mother and puts fun and passion into everything she does.
